Independence is the right to express one's own free will within the bounds of the law, acceptance as a sovereign state without jeopardizing diplomatic relations, and acceptance as a country that accords the highest importance to human rights. A significant accomplishment was the independence of the Philippines. On Independence Day, people remember the sacrifices made by national heroes, celebrate the nation's sovereignty, foster nationalism in the populace, and honor the local customs and culture. Families spend the day in parks and participating in other celebration activities because businesses, companies, and schools are closed on this national holiday.

The Philippines declared independence from the United States of America on July 4, 1946. On July 4, 1946, President Harry S. Truman issued Proclamation 2695, officially recognizing the Philippines' independence under the Philippine Independence Act (also known as the "Tydings–McDuffie Act").

The Philippines, a group of over 7,000 islands in the western Pacific, achieved independence from Spanish domination more than 120 years ago. This claim was made by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, but it wasn't until 1962 that then-President Diosdado Macapagal declared it a public holiday through a presidential decree. On June 12, 1898, the Filipino flag was unfurled for the first time at an exciting celebration that also included the first public performance of the Philippines' national anthem. Since then, July 12 has been designated as Independence Day. Independence Day commemorates the long-fought war for liberty and the people who waged it. Filipinos should never forget the country's difficult but triumphant march to freedom. This celebration serves as a reminder to Filipinos to foster a hunger for knowledge of the country's rich history, including its struggle for independence.

The most important development in the history of our nation was gaining independence. In addition to ending more than three centuries of servitude, we decided to set our own course for the country. We observe Independence Day every year and develop a greater love for our nation. All Filipinos consider July 12 to be a significant day in their lives. It is important to commemorate this day with love and pride for our nation. The purpose of the holiday is to remember how liberating it was to be free from oppression. Honoring all the freedom fighters who gave their lives in the service of the nation is another cause to celebrate Independence Day.

Time Flies by so Fast

I'm still perplexed about how quickly time passes. Here I am again writing a reflection on what I learned this quarter.  Despite how much I stated that time flew by, I thought the third quarter was fantastic. Mentally, I can gladly state that I am doing much better than the previous quarter. Nonetheless, this quarter taught me a lot. I've learned a lot about important events in our community, on how they were celebrated and how people are looking for these events every year. I have also learned about our history which is very helpful. This is my first time working on a community-based project; at first, I had a lot of complaints at first, but I was able to complete it in the end. I'm having difficulty understanding the subject because I'm terrible at writing essays and conducting research.
